Von Ebert Brewing unveiled what it believes is the biggest and only beer can silo in Oregon. At 12’x26′, if the silo were filled with beer, it would hold nearly 158,000 pints.

There are big beer cans. And then there’s Von Ebert’s new silo on North Mississippi Avenue in Portland — a 12-foot wide, 26-foot tall fermentation tank now painted to look like a can of Volatile Substance NW IPA. If you could actually walk by and crack it open, it could serve roughly 158,000 pints.

August is waning and brewers are celebrating summer’s end and fall’s soon-to-come arrival with an interesting roster of beers that suit the changing seasons.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Today, Von Ebert Brewing releases its collaboration “Probably Something with Pally Hazy Double IPA,” brewed with Green Cheek Beer Co. from southern California. 

“Our friends at Green Cheek brew hoppy beers, crispy lagers and big stouts – just like Von Ebert so it was only natural we partner on something this year,” said Sam Pecoraro, brewmaster of Von Ebert Brewing. “As we look to expand into the California market, we strategically reached out to some of our favorite brewers in the state for collaborations, like this super tasty hazy double IPA made with Krush and Citra hops.”

A good beer on game day serves a simple purpose. It complements what’s going on, never overpowers, never distracts. The timing matters too. With only one day left before the inaugural Legends of the West invitational West Coast IPA festival, organizers Grains of Wrath Brewing have shared the beer list with the New School. Taking place outside of GOW’s new production brewery in Washougal, Washington at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, the open area should provide a tranquil area with plenty of parking to host a mid-size curated festival like this one that welcomes some of the best Brewers of bold and clear hop bombs from Oregon and California to Colorado and Texas.
